My first week off after the end of another school year was filled to the brim with cleaning and errand-running that I had been slacking off on for a few weeks. My goal was to get it all done while my kid was at daycare and I had the house to myself and to finish before my birthday. One non-functional, still to be Marie Kondo-ed closet away from meeting my goal, my birthday arrived.
I knew I wanted to nibble and I didn’t want to commit to one type of cuisine, so my sister and mother took me to T-buds near Yonge and Lawrence.
I hadn’t been to this cute and tidy second floor tiny teahouse since pre-baby and didn’t really remember anything much about it except actually being able to eat the meat sandwiches that came with the tea service. I guess the food didn’t wow me back then, but man, this time was different.
I love afternoon tea and I enjoy having little bits of everything on a tiered platter but I also was really impressed with the variety of boards that they have now. Those were definitely not there last time. After a lengthy debate about what everyone would order, we settled on two boards, The Moroccan Mezze and the Oh, Canada! and a classic afternoon tea.

Nibbling Heaven.
All in all, the boards were the stars of the show. They had enough variety to keep me interested and flavourful meat. The lamb on the Moroccan board was unexpectedly good, seeing as I don’t usually like lamb.
The tea service is good. Solid and pretty standard but none of those dainty sandwiches or sweets stood out for me. It has all the things one might expect from a tea service and the main draw of it is that I can actually eat the meat. The teacher in me gives it a solid B+. Maybe one day I’ll do a full review of all my favourite Afternoon Tea services, but that’s for another day.
After that meal I felt like I ate almost all of old McDonald’s farm animals and they were delicious.
I would absolutely recommend this place if you feel like you don’t really know what you want to eat and are in the mood to sample things with the people around you.
